Extra Information
|
According to Grove, this was originally written for clarinet, basset horn and piano, and orchestrated by Mendelssohn himself 7 days later. Other editions include one by International Music Co. (IMC), edited by Eric Simon, and with a copyright notice of 1957. However, in comparing the piano parts, it is an exact reprint of the Breitkopf & Härtel edition above. The title and instrument names have been translated into English, and the composer's name has been moved to the right margin, but as far as the music goes, the typeface of the tempo markings are the same, and even the collisions between accents and staff lines are exactly the same. The clarinet/basset horn parts are yet to be compared, but the piano part is not edited in any way.
