According to Joubert’s biographical notes for Les Maîtres contemporains de l'orgue vol. 5 (1914), McIntyre was born in Edinburgh (Scotland), and studied music at the University of Durham (England). Around 1912-14, he was teaching organ at the Mount Allison Conservatory in Sackville, New Brunswick (Canada).
