Born December 26,1850,Schenectady County,NY to Jacob Fisher and Sarah Barringer. c.1858 when he was 7 years old, his family moved to Buffalo, Erie County, NY where he lived most of his life with his brother and old mother.He never married.Started as a music teacher, by the middle 1890s,when most of his works were published, he became a Professor of Music,well known in his hometown.
Famous writer Sir Arthur Conan Doyle mentions him briefly in the volume II of his History of Spiritualism.(Interested in the popular in his time occultism and parapsychology, he was a Buffalo's leader 'voice medium' in a group of spiritualists called 'Rescue Circles'.)
