An entertainer at the piano who composed his own material. He had a long career, from the late Victorian era to the 1940s. Whilst he composed many songs, he also wrote lyrics too. Some to his own songs, others for other people's songs, such as Herbert Townsend. He worked with him to write many Musical Monologues.
