VIAF Bio: From a musical family in Trento, a historic town near the Alps north of Venice, he studied at the Milan conservatory (1879-85) with de Angelis (violin ) and Gaetano Coronaro (1852—1908) (composition) then in Vienna (1886) with Jakob Moritz Grün. From ca 1890 a teacher of violin at the Milan conservatory. His Variations on a Theme of Brahms and Sonata in C minor, both for violin and piano were published in Germany in the 1890s. Works: Like Giuseppe Martucci (1856—1909) and Giovanni Sgambati (1841—1914), he wanted to start an Italian classical (rather than operatic) school of composition. However, only a few works were published. He wrote for the organ, some operas and some books on composers, in addition to some studies.
