Karl Witkowski (/Wittkowski, Wittkowsky, ...) could be the painter of the same name who lived 1860–1910 (the libretto to Philipp Scharwenka's Sakuntala (ca.1885) is also attributed to the same person, in any case; also Heinrich Hofmann's opera Donna Diana, Op.75 (ca.1885).)
Mentioned as already completed in the August 1 1891 Musical Times, p.493 (composed and to be performed in the next season.)
Philipp Scharwenka arranged the vocal score for Peters (plate 7518, Klavierauszug mit text).
The score and parts to the Malagueña (only) are also available from the NYPO archives (archive location OL472.)
