Extra Information | This popular dance was thought to have been composed by Louis XIII, King of France (1601-1643) at one time, but Beaujoyeulx is considered a more likely candidate now. It has been arranged by numerous other composers, including Henri Ghys and Fritz Kreisler. The tune seems to have originated as "Le son de la clochete" from Balet comique de la Royne and might have been composed (or arranged) by Beaujoyeulx or one of his collaborators Lambert de Beaulieu and Jacques Salmon |
