Biography

Gerardo Aponte began his musical studies in the program of Youth Orchestras and Choirs of Mexico in 1992, staying with this program until 1994. He continued his studies privately and has been taught by Lech Kwapisz, Jan Sosnowsky, Mikhail Tolpigo and Manuel Suárez among others. He took composition classes with Salvador Rodríguez.

He has been violist in many of Mexico’s most important orchestras such as the National Symphonic Orchestra (OSN). As regards chamber music, he has been a member of the Silvestre Revueltas String Quartet, Ensamble Permutaciones and Tempus Fugit.
