The manuscript ends after the first five bars of the full-scale recapitulation of the first part, so that one thought that the manuscript was incomplete. It is now accepted that Bruckner did not want to transcribe the full content of the recapitulation. In the Bruckner Gesamtausgabe, Band XX, No. 5 (1996), only the first bar of the full-scale recapitulation is transcribed, followed by Dal Segno al Fine.
