This is a neo-classical bassoon concerto, not too demanding but with enough possibilities for the soloist to show off. The 1st movement is gracious and moderately fast and in sonata form; the movement contains a lyrical cadenza. The 2nd movement is a slow and moving cantilene, with a solemn and dramatic middle section, all built upon one theme. The final movement is a very up-tempo galop in rondo form. Digital performance based on a recording using Sibelius 6 and Kontakt Gold. On 28th July 2018 The Opus Project Orchestra, with Tim Machajewski as soloist, publicly performed the 1st movement at the Diablo Valley College, in Pleasant Hill, CA , in the USA.
