Sagesse is the title of Verlaine's book where the poems have no titles but are referred by numbers such as II.1. and here also their first words. Also the above is "réduction pour chant et piano"... (Which may just have that particularly 19th century meaning of arranging the poem, or the thought, for an instrumentation, without implying that it had another and more primary beforehand. )

Versions for voice and orchestra of at least some of these songs were composed- see the French National Library catalog for information, since they have the manuscripts. See eg this entry.
